Government Provides Relief Support to Flood-Affected Irrigation Farmers in Ketu South.

The Government of Ghana has extended relief assistance to 15 irrigation farmers in the Ketu South Municipality whose farms were severely affected by recent devastating floods that impacted several parts of the country.

The beneficiaries received assorted relief items, including fertilizers, mattresses, bags of rice, and cooking oil, to help mitigate the impact of the disaster.

Presenting the items on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Nicholas Kwabla Worklatsi, at the premises of the Ketu South Municipal Assembly on Thursday, July 30, 2026, the Municipal Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Mr. Ferguson Ahorlu, noted that the value of the destroyed farms far exceeded the relief package provided.

He, however, urged the affected farmers to remain patient, assuring them of the government’s continued commitment to supporting their recovery efforts.

Mr. Ahorlu emphasized that the relief package represents an initial phase of government intervention. He further stated that the John Dramani Mahama-led NDC government prioritizes the welfare of farmers and remains committed to providing sustained support to facilitate recovery and enhance agricultural productivity.

He also encouraged the beneficiaries to remain dedicated to farming, highlighting the critical role farmers play in ensuring national food security and sustaining the country’s food supply.

Receiving the items on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Albert Nyakpo Vayesugbor, expressed their appreciation to the government for its timely intervention and solidarity in the face of their losses. They assured to continue their farming activities with renewed commitment and called on the government to vigorously promote the “Eat Ghana, Wear Ghana” policy to encourage local production and consumption.
