Somé SHS and Klikor SHTS Make Historic Simultaneous Visit to Parliament.

Students of Somé Senior High School (SOSEC) and Klikor Senior High Technical School (KLISTEC), both located in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region, have made history by undertaking a simultaneous educational visit to the Parliament of Ghana on Thursday, July 30, 2026.


The visit formed part of the schools' civic education programme aimed at giving students firsthand exposure to Ghana's democratic governance and parliamentary processes while deepening their understanding of constitutional democracy.




As part of the educational tour, the students also visited the Black Star Square and the Dr. Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, where they learned about Ghana's rich political history, independence struggle, and national heritage.


At Parliament, the students observed live parliamentary proceedings from the public gallery, gaining practical insight into legislative debates, oversight responsibilities, and the law-making process. They also interacted with Members of Parliament, who encouraged them to remain focused on their studies, uphold good values, and prepare themselves to become responsible leaders capable of contributing to national development.


The accompanying teachers expressed appreciation to the leadership of Parliament for granting the students the opportunity to witness parliamentary proceedings firsthand, describing the experience as both educational and inspiring.



The Somé Senior High School delegation comprised Mawuko Atisu, Akpeh William (Head of Department), Riis Jophoclo, Roland Kporfor, and Bless Mishio.


Klikor Senior High Technical School was represented by Sharon Adzavon, Mr. Salu, Wonder Dzisah, Francisca Dzise, and Richard Agbeko Bedi.



The historic simultaneous visit by the two Ketu South schools is expected to inspire greater interest in civic responsibility, democratic governance, and active citizenship among the students.

    This is a great initiative from both schools. This will expand their exposure and also inspire them to fight for academic excellence

Government Provides Relief Support to Flood-Affected Irrigation Farmers in Ketu South.

The Government of Ghana has extended relief assistance to 15 irrigation farmers in the Ketu South Municipality whose farms were severely affected by recent devastating floods that impacted several parts of the country. The beneficiaries received assorted relief items, including fertilizers, mattresses, bags of rice, and cooking oil, to help mitigate the impact of the disaster. Presenting the items on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Nicholas Kwabla Worklatsi, at the premises of the Ketu South Municipal Assembly on Thursday, July 30, 2026, the Municipal Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Mr. Ferguson Ahorlu, noted that the value of the destroyed farms far exceeded the relief package provided.
