In a press release dated Saturday, August 29, 2026, titled “Caution Statement on the State of NPP in the Volta Region,” Mr. Quarshie said his concerns were motivated by his love for the party and a desire to prevent further deterioration of its electoral fortunes in the region. The incident occurred during Contest 9 of the One-eighth Stage, after a prolonged disagreement over the adjudication of a Biology question in Round One. According to organisers Primetime Limited, the contest had progressed to Round Five when teachers from Anlo SHS and Kumasi High instructed their contestants to leave the stage. The production team reportedly appealed to the contestants to remain on stage, but they followed the instructions of their teachers and walked out. Jerry Sorokpo, has petitioned the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), the Volta Regional Police Commander and the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, over alleged harassment and extortion of traders by some police officers operating along the Aflao–Accra highway. Mr. Sorokpo, who is also seeking to play a leadership role within the governing NDC in the constituency, says the alleged incidents have raised concerns among traders and other road users who depend on the highway to transport goods between communities and major trading centres. The Ghana Police Service has disowned a flyer circulating widely on social media claiming that motorists and motorcyclists who use AirPods, earphones or other audio devices while driving or riding could be arrested and sentenced to up to two years in prison. The flyer, which bears the Ghana Police Service logo and the heading “Public Safety Announcement,” claims that the use of AirPods, earphones or any form of audio device while riding or driving is strictly prohibited. However, the Police Service has clarified that the publication is false and was neither issued nor authorised by the Ghana Police Service. The Service has urged members of the public to disregard the flyer, while its Cybercrime Unit works to trace those responsible for its circulation.   The Funeral Committee of the Gbedzekope–Yelibato twin communities in the Ketu South Municipality has finally rendered its financial account covering the past four years, following an intervention by Fafaa FM, a commercial radio station based in Dzodze. The account rendering brings to an end a prolonged wait by residents who had been calling for transparency and accountability from the committee since it assumed responsibility for funeral-related activities. According to the financial statement presented by the committee, a total of GH¢12,210 was realized during the period from funeral levies and other fines.
