Ketu South MCE de-silt major drains in Agbozume to avert flooding.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Ketu South Municipality  in the Volta Region Hon. Nicholas Kwabla Worclatsi is on a mission to prevent a full-blown flooding situation as he embark on a major de-silting exercise at Agbozume in the Ketu South Municipality.

 

The exercise is to prevent homes and shops flooding.

 


Many drainage systems in the town are heavily choked with sand debris and filth from households and commercial activities.

The situation poses a precarious risk to houses and shops along these drains with imminent threats of flooding.  

 

The Dzanyigome stream near the  Agbozume market is one of the many streams which has always been at the mercy of the environmental menace. 

 

“I am doing this to prevent the water from overflowing onto the roads and blocking access. I want to clear the sand debris to ensure the water flows freely in the drains. This is to prevent any disaster that may occur in the near future, he said.  

 



For 16 years, these gutters have been choked and no one seems to care, in collaboration with the assembly members, I will make sure our municipality clean and safe for us, he added.

 

"In two weeks time, I will bring investors here, they will drain the lagoon for us to start fish farming which will boost our economy, he promised.


He also stated that there will be bye-laws by the assembly against those that throw garbages in the gutters and those that refuse to take part in communal labour.




According to the Hon. Worclatsi, the sanitation day will be observed weekly to make Ketu South Municipality one of the cleanest municipalities in the country.

89-year-old Fetish Priest crowned the overall Best farmer for 2025 in Ketu South.

  Torgbui Nuwordu, a fetish priest from Klikor has been crowned the overall best farmer in the Ketu municipal at the  41st National Best Farmers day held on Thursday, November 27, 2025 at Agbozume Logove A M.E Zion School park.  He took home a tricycle, 10 cutlasses, 2 pairs of wellington boots, 4 bottles of herbicides, 4 bottles of insecticides, 1 spraying machine, 1 50kg bag of NPK, 1 50kg bag of Urea and a flat screen TV. Torgbui Nuwordu beat 8 other contestants. Government Provides Relief Support to Flood-Affected Irrigation Farmers in Ketu South.

The Government of Ghana has extended relief assistance to 15 irrigation farmers in the Ketu South Municipality whose farms were severely affected by recent devastating floods that impacted several parts of the country. The beneficiaries received assorted relief items, including fertilizers, mattresses, bags of rice, and cooking oil, to help mitigate the impact of the disaster.
