Ketu South NADMO donates relief items to farmers.

The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Ketu South, has donated some relief items to some farmers in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region. 

The donation took place on Tuesday February 17, 2025 the premises of the Ketu South Municipal assembly.


Some of the items were  60 bags of 25kg rice, 35 cartoons of cooking oil and 50 bags of 25 kg maize.

Donating the items Mr. Nicholas Kwabla Worklachie the municipal chief executive noted that in 2024, there was a serious drought in the entire municipality and affected most farmers which calls for the donation. He used the opportunity to sympathize with the farmers for the lost


"I want to use this opportunity on behalf of the government sympathize with all of you who were affected by the drought in 2024. I want to assure you all that the president Mahama led government will from now do anything possible to support you "he stated
 
He appeal to the farmers to accept the items though it's not enough or can not replace what they have lost. 

He used the opportunity on behalf of the president to appreciate the donors for their support.


The municipal director of NADMO, Mr. Ferguson Ahorlu stated that they received the from Africa Risk Capacity Insurance Scheme based in Germany which Ghana is a member.

He explained that the objective of the scheme is to assist member countries with relief items in case of misfortunes like this.


"It is not Ketu South alone that is benefiting from the relief items, it is the whole country, so as a district, we are grateful to the donors for the support" he said 

He also mentioned that the NADMO is always ready to support the residents of municipality when the need arises.

"As we work to deal with  unexpected disasters, we want to assure you that we are also trying to put measures in place to prevent unforseen happenings and also give out our support, he concluded 

He urged farmers not to give up farming because of this because with without them the country cannot survive.


A total of 260 farmers across the municipality benefited from the items.

89-year-old Fetish Priest crowned the overall Best farmer for 2025 in Ketu South.

  Torgbui Nuwordu, a fetish priest from Klikor has been crowned the overall best farmer in the Ketu municipal at the  41st National Best Farmers day held on Thursday, November 27, 2025 at Agbozume Logove A M.E Zion School park.  He took home a tricycle, 10 cutlasses, 2 pairs of wellington boots, 4 bottles of herbicides, 4 bottles of insecticides, 1 spraying machine, 1 50kg bag of NPK, 1 50kg bag of Urea and a flat screen TV. Torgbui Nuwordu beat 8 other contestants. Government Provides Relief Support to Flood-Affected Irrigation Farmers in Ketu South.

The Government of Ghana has extended relief assistance to 15 irrigation farmers in the Ketu South Municipality whose farms were severely affected by recent devastating floods that impacted several parts of the country. The beneficiaries received assorted relief items, including fertilizers, mattresses, bags of rice, and cooking oil, to help mitigate the impact of the disaster. Presenting the items on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon.
