Blekusu Dunenyo Easter celebration slated for April 1 to 5, 2026.

The 2026 Dunenyo Easter celebration by the people of Blekusu in the  Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region is scheduled to take place from April 1 to 5 at Blekusu.


The celebration will be under the theme “Development of Blekusu through resilience, hardworking and Unity "


 The celebration will showcase a rich tapestry of Ghanaian culture and full of fun.


The 5-day celebration will feature a variety of activities, including clean-up exercises, football gala, health walk and health screening, street carnival, beauty pageant, artist night and the grand durbar on Saturday April 4, and thanksgiving service on Sunday April 5.



Mr. Nukamewor Raphael the assembly member of Blekusu Electoral Area stated that the celebration will reaffirms the enduring love, peace and unity among the people of Blekusu and the whole coastal belt of the municipality.


According to him, the Dunenyo Easter celebration is not to only build Blekusu but also serves as a reminder that peace is hard-won, justice must be actively pursued, and unity across all the citizens of Blekusu.


He emphasised, “Let us be peacemakers in our homes, in our farms and also in our workplaces, resolving conflict with empathy and intention.”


He further urged, “Let us also demand transparency and fairness in both traditional and civic governance, ensuring equal opportunities for all while welcoming our brothers and sisters from within and beyond in our warm embrace.”


Torgbui Agbali III, the divisional chief of Blekusu stated that building of Blekusu  called for a shared commitment and it is their aim to making Blekusu a premiere town in the Volta Region and the country as a whole.


"I want to use this opportunity to appeal to all citizens of Blekusu to contribute their quota to the development of our town, no one will do it for us, let us start something before calling on the government and the stakeholders for assistance" Torgbui advised.


Torgbui Ahiable III, Chief of Blekusu also mentioned that the people of Blekusu are noted for peace and unity and they will do everything to as traditional leaders to maintain peace among the people.


Torgbui Ekey III of Blekusu stated that, no town can develop without unity and oneness. He there urged all citizens of Blekusu to be committed and assist in the development of their town.


Some of the invited guests for the celebration includes Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, the member of Parliament for Ketu South Constituency and minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon Nicholas Kwabla Worklachie the Ketu South Municipal Chief Executive and Mr. Felix Akonta also known as Torgbui Tenuvi II, a development chief of Aflao traditional area.


Other dignitaries including, chiefs, Assembly members and people from all walks of life are expected to grace the occasion.

89-year-old Fetish Priest crowned the overall Best farmer for 2025 in Ketu South.

  Torgbui Nuwordu, a fetish priest from Klikor has been crowned the overall best farmer in the Ketu municipal at the  41st National Best Farmers day held on Thursday, November 27, 2025 at Agbozume Logove A M.E Zion School park.  He took home a tricycle, 10 cutlasses, 2 pairs of wellington boots, 4 bottles of herbicides, 4 bottles of insecticides, 1 spraying machine, 1 50kg bag of NPK, 1 50kg bag of Urea and a flat screen TV. Torgbui Nuwordu beat 8 other contestants. Government Provides Relief Support to Flood-Affected Irrigation Farmers in Ketu South.

The Government of Ghana has extended relief assistance to 15 irrigation farmers in the Ketu South Municipality whose farms were severely affected by recent devastating floods that impacted several parts of the country. The beneficiaries received assorted relief items, including fertilizers, mattresses, bags of rice, and cooking oil, to help mitigate the impact of the disaster. Presenting the items on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Nicholas Kwabla Worklatsi, at the premises of the Ketu South Municipal Assembly on Thursday, July 30, 2026, the Municipal Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Mr. Ferguson Ahorlu, noted that the value of the destroyed farms far exceeded the relief package provided.
