Akame Kana retains 2026 AKUFA Easter Football Tournament Trophy.

The 38th edition of Akame Unit Football Association tournament came to an exciting conclusion as Akame Kana, five times finalist retain the championship title by defeating Akame Kpota FC 1:0


The five-day exhilarating event, which kicked off on Thursday April 2, delivered intense and thrilling moments before drawing to a close on Monday evening, April 6.

In the semi-finals, Akame Kana defeated the Yelibato/Gbedzekope United, the 2024 champions to book their place in the final, while Akame Kpota FC overcame Akame Newtown, the 2025 semi-finalist to book their final place slot.

In the third-place play-off, Yelibato-Gbedzekope United defeated Akame Newtown FC 4 - 2 on penalties.


The Organizers of the tournament awarded the first-placed team, Akame Kanna with GH₵1,200.00, a set of jersey, a brand new trophy and gold medals. The runner-up, Akame Kpota FC received GH₵800.00, medals and one football, while third-placed Yelibato Gbedzekope United walked away with GHS 600 and a football

The Best Player of the Tournament goes to Shiabi Charles of Kana FC, he received certificate and a trophy.

 

Second place presentations 

Bebeto Eza of Akame Kana maintained his position as  the best goalkeeper, Norbert Nuworkpor emerged as the top scorer of the tournament and Mr Ernest Orator Abotsi also from Kana winning the best coach of the tournament for the second consecutive time whilst coach Norbert Kporha of Akame Kpota FC was adjudged the most outstanding coach of the tournament, they all went home with certificate. All the officiating officials and commentators also went home with certificates.

The Assembly member of the Akame Electoral Area, Hon. Winfred Kwabla Dakunya expressed appreciation to all the participating teams. He acknowledged the immense talent on display and emphasised the significance of community togetherness through sports.

Outstanding Coach

“It was a great tournament, and I want to extend my warmest appreciation to all the 14 teams that participated and the eventual winners. I’m glad we’ve been able to bring the entire Electoral Area together for the Easter celebrations,” he said.


Mr. Dakunya emphasized that the tournament is an annual event, and it will definitely come on every year.

Mr. Promise Gamor the chairman of the organizing committee use the opportunity to express his profound gratitude to Alhamdu Football Club for sponsoring the 38th edition of the tournament.

He also appeal to individuals and other NGOs to come on board to support the tournament.

'Its our aim to continue organizing this tournament every year as we have been doing for the past 37 years so we need everyone to come on board to support us in his or her small way, we don't have any sponsor until this year that Alhamdu Football Club assisted us, football is money, and we need money to run it successfully.

The Akame Unit Football Association (AKUFA) is an annual Easter tournament for football teams in Akame Electoral Area in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta region of Ghana.

89-year-old Fetish Priest crowned the overall Best farmer for 2025 in Ketu South.

  Torgbui Nuwordu, a fetish priest from Klikor has been crowned the overall best farmer in the Ketu municipal at the  41st National Best Farmers day held on Thursday, November 27, 2025 at Agbozume Logove A M.E Zion School park.  He took home a tricycle, 10 cutlasses, 2 pairs of wellington boots, 4 bottles of herbicides, 4 bottles of insecticides, 1 spraying machine, 1 50kg bag of NPK, 1 50kg bag of Urea and a flat screen TV. Torgbui Nuwordu beat 8 other contestants. Government Provides Relief Support to Flood-Affected Irrigation Farmers in Ketu South.

The Government of Ghana has extended relief assistance to 15 irrigation farmers in the Ketu South Municipality whose farms were severely affected by recent devastating floods that impacted several parts of the country. The beneficiaries received assorted relief items, including fertilizers, mattresses, bags of rice, and cooking oil, to help mitigate the impact of the disaster.
