All Roads Lead to Akatsi as Atidefe Foundation Holds Phase Five of Coconut Seedlings Distribution Project and Youth Empowerment Forum.

All roads will lead to Akatsi on Saturday, July 25, 2026, as the Atidefe Foundation holds Phase Five of its Coconut Seedlings Distribution Project and Youth Empowerment Forum at the RC Park, Akatsi, beginning at 9:00 a.m.


The programme is expected to attract farmers, youth groups, traditional leaders, government officials, business personalities, and other stakeholders as the Foundation continues its commitment to promoting agriculture, youth empowerment, and community development.


The Phase Five edition of the initiative forms part of the Foundation’s broader vision to support farmers with quality coconut seedlings, encourage tree crop production, create sustainable economic opportunities, and inspire young people to take advantage of opportunities within the agricultural sector.


The event will have H.E. Dr. Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple as the Special Guest of Honour.



The Patron of the Atidefe Foundation, His Royal Majesty Torgbuigah Dorglo Anumah VI, and the Patron of the programme, Rt. Hon. Bernard Ahiafor, First Deputy Speaker of Parliament and Member of Parliament for Akatsi South Constituency, are expected to grace the occasion.


The programme will be chaired by Hon. Hajia Fatahiya Abdul Aziz, Member of Parliament for Savelugu Constituency.


A number of distinguished personalities from government, Parliament, traditional institutions, academia, business, and the private sector have been invited to attend the event.


They include Hon. John Dumelo, Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture; Dr. Andy Osei Okrah, Chief Executive Officer of the Tree Crops Development Authority; Mamaga Yeasidi III of the Avenor Traditional Council; Lawyer Barbara Dede Apperkon; Lawyer Tom Acquah; Hon. Francis Xavier Sosu, Member of Parliament for Madina Constituency; Hon. Eric Edem Agbana, Member of Parliament for Ketu North Constituency; and Alhaji Alhassan Haruna Muntala, Chief Executive Officer of Procal Group of Companies.

The Coconut Seedlings Distribution Project is expected to provide farmers and aspiring agripreneurs with access to quality coconut seedlings to encourage investment in tree crop farming and strengthen livelihoods.


The initiative is also expected to contribute to Ghana’s agricultural transformation agenda by encouraging farmers, particularly young people, to explore opportunities in coconut production and other areas of agribusiness.



The Youth Empowerment Forum, which forms part of the programme, will provide a platform for young people to engage with experts, policymakers, and business leaders on entrepreneurship, skills development, innovation, and sustainable livelihood opportunities.


Stakeholders believe that investing in agriculture and supporting young entrepreneurs remain important steps toward reducing unemployment, improving rural economies, and creating a new generation of agripreneurs.


Coconut farming has been identified as a crop with significant economic potential due to its applications in food processing, industrial production, and value addition. The distribution of seedlings is therefore expected to encourage more farmers to participate in the coconut value chain.



The Founder of the Atidefe Foundation and Assembly Member for the Torve Electoral Area, Hon. Thomas Yao Atidefe, has urged the public, invited guests, and participants to exercise patience and cooperation during the programme to ensure a smooth and successful event.


Hon. Atidefe, who is currently preparing to contest for the position of Deputy Secretary of the Akatsi South Constituency on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), described the programme as a peaceful celebration aimed at bringing people together, supporting farmers, empowering the youth, and promoting community development.


He called on all participants to maintain peace, discipline, and respect throughout the event, emphasizing that the initiative is focused on creating opportunities and improving the lives of people.


According to him, the Atidefe Foundation remains committed to implementing impactful projects that support agriculture, empower young people, and contribute positively to the development of Akatsi South and beyond.


The Foundation has therefore invited farmers, youth groups, community leaders, and stakeholders to join Phase Five of the Coconut Seedlings Distribution Project and Youth Empowerment Forum as it continues its efforts toward sustainable development and improved livelihoods.

89-year-old Fetish Priest crowned the overall Best farmer for 2025 in Ketu South.

  Torgbui Nuwordu, a fetish priest from Klikor has been crowned the overall best farmer in the Ketu municipal at the  41st National Best Farmers day held on Thursday, November 27, 2025 at Agbozume Logove A M.E Zion School park.  He took home a tricycle, 10 cutlasses, 2 pairs of wellington boots, 4 bottles of herbicides, 4 bottles of insecticides, 1 spraying machine, 1 50kg bag of NPK, 1 50kg bag of Urea and a flat screen TV. Torgbui Nuwordu beat 8 other contestants. Government Provides Relief Support to Flood-Affected Irrigation Farmers in Ketu South.

The Government of Ghana has extended relief assistance to 15 irrigation farmers in the Ketu South Municipality whose farms were severely affected by recent devastating floods that impacted several parts of the country. The beneficiaries received assorted relief items, including fertilizers, mattresses, bags of rice, and cooking oil, to help mitigate the impact of the disaster.
