Court Sentences Head Porter to 10 Years in Prison for Robbery at Aflao.

Aflao, July 16, 2026 – The Torkor Circuit Court in the Ketu South Municipality has sentenced a head porter, Akpalu Prince, to 10 years' imprisonment with hard labour after he pleaded guilty to a robbery charge.


The prosecution, led by Chief Inspector McRae Pomevor, told the court that the complainant, an officer of the Ghana Immigration Service stationed at Aflao, was waiting by the roadside at Ave Maria Junction on July 13, 2026, while holding her iPhone 12 valued at GH¢3,600.


According to the prosecution, the convict suddenly attacked the complainant, snatched the mobile phone and attempted to flee. The victim grabbed his shirt in an effort to stop him, but he pushed her against a wall and escaped.


The complainant immediately raised an alarm, prompting members of the public to pursue and arrest the suspect a short distance away. 


A search conducted on him led to the recovery of the stolen iPhone, which was identified by the complainant.


The suspect was handed over to the police together with the recovered phone. During investigations, he admitted committing the offence in his caution statement.


Presiding Judge Mr. Joseph Ofosu Behome convicted Akpalu Prince on his own plea and sentenced him to 10 years' imprisonment with hard labour, bringing the case to a close.

  Torgbui Nuwordu, a fetish priest from Klikor has been crowned the overall best farmer in the Ketu municipal at the  41st National Best Farmers day held on Thursday, November 27, 2025 at Agbozume Logove A M.E Zion School park.  He took home a tricycle, 10 cutlasses, 2 pairs of wellington boots, 4 bottles of herbicides, 4 bottles of insecticides, 1 spraying machine, 1 50kg bag of NPK, 1 50kg bag of Urea and a flat screen TV. Government Provides Relief Support to Flood-Affected Irrigation Farmers in Ketu South.

The Government of Ghana has extended relief assistance to 15 irrigation farmers in the Ketu South Municipality whose farms were severely affected by recent devastating floods that impacted several parts of the country. The beneficiaries received assorted relief items, including fertilizers, mattresses, bags of rice, and cooking oil, to help mitigate the impact of the disaster.
