Somè Traditional Council Set to Launch 50th Somètutuza Festival.

The Somè Traditional Council has officially announced the launch of the 50th edition of the Somètutuza Festival, marking a major milestone in the history of one of the traditional area's most celebrated cultural events.


The Golden Jubilee launch is scheduled for Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Adafienu Batekorme, near Adafienu R/C Basic School, beginning at 10:30 a.m. prompt.


The event will be held under the Leadership of Torgbiga Adamah III, President and Paramount Chief (Mankralo) of the Somè Traditional Council. It is expected to bring together traditional authorities, government officials, development partners, and citizens from across the Somè Traditional Area and beyond.


The Special Guest of Honour for the occasion is Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Member of Parliament for Ketu South and Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts. She will be joined by Hon. Nicholas Ezo Worklatsi, Municipal Chief Executive for Ketu South, and H.E. Solomon K. Kumordzie, Ghana’s Deputy High Commissioner to Togo, among other distinguished dignitaries.


Traditional leaders expected to grace the ceremony include Torgbi Nyonyo III, Awadada; Torgbi Gbadago VI; and Torgbi Atsu Awuaba, who will join other chiefs and queen mothers in ushering in the historic 50th celebration.


The launch will be chaired by Mrs. Elizabeth M. Gadagbui-Dzadey. Torgbi Tenuvi  II (Mr. Felix Akonta Akakpo) will serve as Co-Chairman and Guest of Honour, while Mrs. Miriam Aseye Todzro Noworkpor will serve as Co-Chairperson and Special Guest. Hon. Palous Kwablatsey Kwashie will also serve as Co-Chairman.


The 50th Somètutuza is expected to showcase the rich cultural heritage, traditions, and unity of the Somè people, while highlighting five decades of preserving customs and promoting development within the traditional area.


Residents, indigene, and friends of the Somè Traditional Area have been invited to participate in the launch as preparations begin for what promises to be a memorable Golden Jubilee celebration.

89-year-old Fetish Priest crowned the overall Best farmer for 2025 in Ketu South.

  Torgbui Nuwordu, a fetish priest from Klikor has been crowned the overall best farmer in the Ketu municipal at the  41st National Best Farmers day held on Thursday, November 27, 2025 at Agbozume Logove A M.E Zion School park.  He took home a tricycle, 10 cutlasses, 2 pairs of wellington boots, 4 bottles of herbicides, 4 bottles of insecticides, 1 spraying machine, 1 50kg bag of NPK, 1 50kg bag of Urea and a flat screen TV. Torgbui Nuwordu beat 8 other contestants. Government Provides Relief Support to Flood-Affected Irrigation Farmers in Ketu South.

The Government of Ghana has extended relief assistance to 15 irrigation farmers in the Ketu South Municipality whose farms were severely affected by recent devastating floods that impacted several parts of the country. The beneficiaries received assorted relief items, including fertilizers, mattresses, bags of rice, and cooking oil, to help mitigate the impact of the disaster. Presenting the items on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Nicholas Kwabla Worklatsi, at the premises of the Ketu South Municipal Assembly on Thursday, July 30, 2026, the Municipal Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Mr. Ferguson Ahorlu, noted that the value of the destroyed farms far exceeded the relief package provided.
