Some Traditional Council Unveils GH¢1.076 Million Development Agenda for Somètutuza 2026.

Agbozume, July 22 – The Some Traditional Council has unveiled a GH¢1,076,000 development agenda to be implemented alongside the 2026 Somètutuza Festival, with a strong focus on education, sanitation, social amenities and cultural preservation.


The proposed projects were announced during the launch of the 2026 Somètutuza celebrations under the theme: "Harnessing the Potential of Youth for Socio-Cultural Preservation, Economic Prosperity, and Tourism Development to Foster Peace and Unity."


According to the Council, the projects are intended to improve the welfare of residents while promoting sustainable development across the Some Traditional Area.


Under the education component, the Council plans to provide 1,000 classroom desks for schools and establish a scholarship fund to support brilliant but needy students.


The sanitation initiative includes the provision of four refuse dump containers to improve waste management, while the social amenities programme will focus on expanding access to potable water in communities within the traditional area.


The Council also allocated resources towards festival logistics to ensure the successful organisation of the annual cultural celebration.


As part of the programme, the 2026 Somètutuza Festival will be held from September 1 to October 4, 2026, featuring a series of cultural, educational, religious and entertainment activities.


The celebration will begin with a ban on drumming, noise-making and funeral rites, followed by traditional prayers and libation, reconciliation activities, visits to tourist sites, students' quiz competitions, youth summit, health walk, blood donation exercise, musical performances, heritage night, sports competitions and a grand durbar of chiefs and people.


The festival will climax with a thanksgiving service on October 4, 2026.


The Some Traditional Council expressed confidence that the festival would strengthen peace and unity, preserve the rich cultural heritage of the Some people and promote tourism and socio-economic development in the Ketu South Municipality.

89-year-old Fetish Priest crowned the overall Best farmer for 2025 in Ketu South.

  Torgbui Nuwordu, a fetish priest from Klikor has been crowned the overall best farmer in the Ketu municipal at the  41st National Best Farmers day held on Thursday, November 27, 2025 at Agbozume Logove A M.E Zion School park.  He took home a tricycle, 10 cutlasses, 2 pairs of wellington boots, 4 bottles of herbicides, 4 bottles of insecticides, 1 spraying machine, 1 50kg bag of NPK, 1 50kg bag of Urea and a flat screen TV. Torgbui Nuwordu beat 8 other contestants. Government Provides Relief Support to Flood-Affected Irrigation Farmers in Ketu South.

The Government of Ghana has extended relief assistance to 15 irrigation farmers in the Ketu South Municipality whose farms were severely affected by recent devastating floods that impacted several parts of the country. The beneficiaries received assorted relief items, including fertilizers, mattresses, bags of rice, and cooking oil, to help mitigate the impact of the disaster. Presenting the items on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Nicholas Kwabla Worklatsi, at the premises of the Ketu South Municipal Assembly on Thursday, July 30, 2026, the Municipal Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Mr. Ferguson Ahorlu, noted that the value of the destroyed farms far exceeded the relief package provided.
