Somè Traditional Council Unveils Activities for 50th Somètutuza Festival.

Adafienu, July 22, 2026– The Somè Traditional Council has announced a comprehensive line-up of activities for the 50th edition of the Somètutuza Festival, with celebrations scheduled to take place from September 1 to October 4, 2026, across communities in the Somè Traditional Area. 


The Golden Jubilee celebration, themed around unity, heritage and development, is expected to bring together chiefs, queen mothers, citizens, residents and visitors to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the Somè people.


According to the festival programme, the celebration will begin with a traditional ban on drumming, noise making and funeral rites from September 1 to September 27.


Activities will officially commence on September 13 with traditional prayers and libation at the Makorsor Palace forecourt, followed by reconciliation activities across the traditional area on September 14.


The festival will feature visits to tourist sites, students' quiz competitions for Somè Fugo and Somè Wego schools, youth summit programmes, students' durbars and communal labour exercises aimed at promoting environmental cleanliness.


Health and recreational activities, including a Mega Health Walk, Borborbor Night and Food and Drinks Buzza Night with music performances, have also been scheduled.


Religious observances will include Muslim prayers on September 18 and Christian prayers on September 20, highlighting the festival's spirit of unity and peaceful coexistence.


The climax of the Golden Jubilee celebration will be held on September 26, featuring a grand durbar of chiefs and people, cultural displays, an artistes' night and entertainment activities at the Somè National School, Agbozume 


The festival will conclude with a Thanksgiving Service in all churches across the Somè Traditional Area on October 4, 2026.


The Somè Traditional Council has called on citizens, development partners and visitors to participate actively in the celebration, which is expected to showcase the area's cultural identity while promoting tourism, social cohesion and community development.


The festival is being organised under the slogan: "Let Us Unite, Celebrate Our Heritage and Build a Greater Somè."

89-year-old Fetish Priest crowned the overall Best farmer for 2025 in Ketu South.

  Torgbui Nuwordu, a fetish priest from Klikor has been crowned the overall best farmer in the Ketu municipal at the  41st National Best Farmers day held on Thursday, November 27, 2025 at Agbozume Logove A M.E Zion School park.  He took home a tricycle, 10 cutlasses, 2 pairs of wellington boots, 4 bottles of herbicides, 4 bottles of insecticides, 1 spraying machine, 1 50kg bag of NPK, 1 50kg bag of Urea and a flat screen TV. Torgbui Nuwordu beat 8 other contestants. Government Provides Relief Support to Flood-Affected Irrigation Farmers in Ketu South.

The Government of Ghana has extended relief assistance to 15 irrigation farmers in the Ketu South Municipality whose farms were severely affected by recent devastating floods that impacted several parts of the country. The beneficiaries received assorted relief items, including fertilizers, mattresses, bags of rice, and cooking oil, to help mitigate the impact of the disaster. Presenting the items on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Nicholas Kwabla Worklatsi, at the premises of the Ketu South Municipal Assembly on Thursday, July 30, 2026, the Municipal Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Mr. Ferguson Ahorlu, noted that the value of the destroyed farms far exceeded the relief package provided.
