Ahorkpoe Electoral Area Cuts Sod for New Information Centre.

The people of the Ahorkpoe Electoral Area have taken a major step towards improving community communication and development with the cutting of sod for the construction of an information centre at Ahorkpoe, one of the units within the electoral area.


The sod-cutting ceremony was held today, Wednesday, August 19, 2026, marking the beginning of a project that community leaders believe will enhance information dissemination and create an additional source of revenue for the electoral area.


Speaking at the ceremony, the Assembly Member for Ahorkpoe Electoral Area, Hon. Saviour Agbeko Awoye, disclosed that all the equipment required for the construction of the facility had been procured by Torgbui Apiwu II.



According to Hon. Awoye, the equipment is estimated to have cost Torgbui Apiwu II over GH¢10,000.00, describing the gesture as a significant contribution towards the development of the community.


He explained that the community had been planning to construct the facility for the past two years but had been unable to do so because of the financial implications involved. He further identified land acquisition as one of the major challenges that had delayed the project.


Hon. Awoye expressed appreciation to the Senanu and Agbovi families for donating land for the project, describing the gesture as an important contribution to the development of Bayikor and the wider electoral area.



He noted that, when completed, the information centre would serve as a source of income for the electoral area while also providing the community with access to resources and services that they previously had to seek from information centres in other communities.


The Assembly Member extended his gratitude to Torgbui Apiwu II and his Council of Elders for the initiative and appealed to other traditional leaders, opinion leaders, individuals and organisations to support the project.


He expressed confidence that the facility would be completed and ready for commissioning by the end of the year.



The Unit Committee Chairman, Mr. Daniel Akoetey, said he would engage other Unit Committee members and residents to support the workers to ensure that construction progresses rapidly.


He disclosed that all labour works on the project would be undertaken through communal labour, calling on residents to contribute their time and energy toward the successful completion of the facility.


Meanwhile, Mawuworge Prosper Kadu, Youth Chairman of Agbozume-Bayikor, urged the youth to actively participate in the project and contribute to its success for the advancement of the community.


Torgbui Apiwu II urged residents to take ownership of the project and protect the equipment procured for the construction.


He called on the people to ensure that the materials are properly secured throughout the construction period.



Torgbui Apiwu II further assured the community that he would continue to do his best to support the provision of their developmental needs.


The project is expected to become an important community facility upon completion, strengthening local communication while creating opportunities for revenue generation and community development.

89-year-old Fetish Priest crowned the overall Best farmer for 2025 in Ketu South.

  Torgbui Nuwordu, a fetish priest from Klikor has been crowned the overall best farmer in the Ketu municipal at the  41st National Best Farmers day held on Thursday, November 27, 2025 at Agbozume Logove A M.E Zion School park.  He took home a tricycle, 10 cutlasses, 2 pairs of wellington boots, 4 bottles of herbicides, 4 bottles of insecticides, 1 spraying machine, 1 50kg bag of NPK, 1 50kg bag of Urea and a flat screen TV. Torgbui Nuwordu beat 8 other contestants. Government Provides Relief Support to Flood-Affected Irrigation Farmers in Ketu South.

The Government of Ghana has extended relief assistance to 15 irrigation farmers in the Ketu South Municipality whose farms were severely affected by recent devastating floods that impacted several parts of the country. The beneficiaries received assorted relief items, including fertilizers, mattresses, bags of rice, and cooking oil, to help mitigate the impact of the disaster.
