EMPOWERING WOMEN FOR THE FUTURE: AGRICULTURE, IT, AI & TECHNOLOGY

The Women’s Organizer hopeful for the Ketu South Constituency has outlined an ambitious vision to equip women with practical skills in agriculture, Information Technology (IT), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and modern technology as part of efforts to prepare them for the changing demands of the future.


According to the aspiring Women’s Organizer, the rapid transformation of the global economy makes it necessary for women to acquire relevant skills and become active participants in emerging opportunities rather than remain spectators.


She emphasized that agriculture remains a major economic sector with enormous opportunities for women, particularly in modern farming, agribusiness, food processing, poultry, livestock, aquaculture and other agricultural value chains.


She said her vision is to encourage and support women to move beyond subsistence production and develop sustainable businesses that can generate income, create employment and improve livelihoods within the constituency.


Beyond agriculture, she stressed the importance of digital skills, noting that technology is increasingly influencing how people work, communicate, learn and conduct business.


She therefore proposed practical training programmes that would expose women to basic digital literacy, computer skills, internet use, digital marketing, online business, financial technology, AI tools and other emerging technologies.


According to her, women should be equipped to use technology to market their products, manage businesses, connect with customers, access information, identify new opportunities and improve productivity.


She also called for greater encouragement of young women to pursue careers in technology, science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), stressing that many of the jobs of the future will require digital and technological competencies.


She explained that her proposed programme would go beyond skills training, with a broader objective of creating opportunities, building confidence, increasing incomes and preparing women to compete effectively in the modern economy.


“A woman who can farm, process, package, market and sell her products online is empowered,” she stated, adding that women who can use digital tools and AI to improve their businesses will be better positioned to succeed.


She further noted that a woman who understands technology and can use it to create opportunities for herself and her community is better prepared for the future.


The Women’s Organizer hopeful therefore pledged to work towards building a Women’s Wing that is not only politically active but also economically empowered, digitally equipped and prepared to take advantage of emerging opportunities.


She concluded that the future belongs to those who prepare for it today, and expressed her commitment to making women’s economic empowerment and digital inclusion key priorities for the Ketu South Constituency.

89-year-old Fetish Priest crowned the overall Best farmer for 2025 in Ketu South.

  Torgbui Nuwordu, a fetish priest from Klikor has been crowned the overall best farmer in the Ketu municipal at the  41st National Best Farmers day held on Thursday, November 27, 2025 at Agbozume Logove A M.E Zion School park.  He took home a tricycle, 10 cutlasses, 2 pairs of wellington boots, 4 bottles of herbicides, 4 bottles of insecticides, 1 spraying machine, 1 50kg bag of NPK, 1 50kg bag of Urea and a flat screen TV. Torgbui Nuwordu beat 8 other contestants. His scale of operation includes maize 62.5 acres, Cassava 52 acres, Okro 10 acres, Cowpea 10 acres, Chilli Paper 5 acres, Coconut 5 acres, 20 Cattle, 30 goats, 10 sheeps, 10 Turkeys, 20 Guinea Fowls, 20 doves and 175 local poultry The over 60 years experience farmer receiving his award, thanked the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Government Provides Relief Support to Flood-Affected Irrigation Farmers in Ketu South.

The Government of Ghana has extended relief assistance to 15 irrigation farmers in the Ketu South Municipality whose farms were severely affected by recent devastating floods that impacted several parts of the country. The beneficiaries received assorted relief items, including fertilizers, mattresses, bags of rice, and cooking oil, to help mitigate the impact of the disaster. Presenting the items on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Nicholas Kwabla Worklatsi, at the premises of the Ketu South Municipal Assembly on Thursday, July 30, 2026, the Municipal Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Mr. Ferguson Ahorlu, noted that the value of the destroyed farms far exceeded the relief package provided.
