Gbedzekope-Yelibato Funeral Committee Renders Four-Year Account After Fafaa FM Intervention.

The Funeral Committee of the Gbedzekope–Yelibato twin communities in the Ketu South Municipality has finally rendered its financial account covering the past four years, following an intervention by Fafaa FM, a commercial radio station based in Dzodze.


The account rendering brings to an end a prolonged wait by residents who had been calling for transparency and accountability from the committee since it assumed responsibility for funeral-related activities.


According to the financial statement presented by the committee, a total of GH¢12,210 was realized during the period from funeral levies and other fines.



The statement further showed that the committee spent GH¢3,389 on various activities, including pipe maintenance, Transportation, workmanship and account printing, leaving a balance of GH¢9,201. The account also indicated a previous balance of GH¢380, bringing the total funds available before expenditure to GH¢12,590.


Speaking after the account rendering, the Secretary of the Funeral Committee, Mr. James Kofi Tonyeviadzi, explained that the delay was not deliberate.


He said when the committee was appointed, members were not given a specific timeline within which they were expected to render their accounts.



Mr. Tonyeviadzi, however, acknowledged the role played by Fafaa FM in ensuring that the long-awaited account was eventually presented.


 “It is because of Fafaa FM’s intervention that we have rendered the account. It was not because we were unwilling to account,” he stated.


He commended Fafaa FM for its intervention and urged the station to continue using its platform to promote accountability and development within communities.



As part of its activities during the four-year period, the committee also undertook repairs on some broken water pipes, helping to restore access to water for parts of the two communities.


Following the presentation of the account, community members proposed that part of the available funds be invested in sustainable community assets.


Among the suggestions was the purchase of a set of Agbadza drums and the moulding of benches which could be rented out for social and community events.


Residents said the initiative could provide an additional source of revenue for the communities while preserving their cultural heritage and supporting communal activities.



Community members expressed appreciation to Fafaa FM for its intervention, describing it as timely and necessary in ensuring accountability to the people.


They said the development demonstrated the important role of the media in promoting transparency and encouraging community leaders and committees to account for resources entrusted to them.



The account rendering is therefore being seen by residents as a significant step towards restoring confidence and strengthening accountability in the management of community funeral funds.


Fafaa FM’s intervention has ultimately brought the four-year wait for the Gbedzekope–Yelibato Funeral Committee’s account to an end.

89-year-old Fetish Priest crowned the overall Best farmer for 2025 in Ketu South.

  Torgbui Nuwordu, a fetish priest from Klikor has been crowned the overall best farmer in the Ketu municipal at the  41st National Best Farmers day held on Thursday, November 27, 2025 at Agbozume Logove A M.E Zion School park.  He took home a tricycle, 10 cutlasses, 2 pairs of wellington boots, 4 bottles of herbicides, 4 bottles of insecticides, 1 spraying machine, 1 50kg bag of NPK, 1 50kg bag of Urea and a flat screen TV. Government Provides Relief Support to Flood-Affected Irrigation Farmers in Ketu South.

The Government of Ghana has extended relief assistance to 15 irrigation farmers in the Ketu South Municipality whose farms were severely affected by recent devastating floods that impacted several parts of the country. The beneficiaries received assorted relief items, including fertilizers, mattresses, bags of rice, and cooking oil, to help mitigate the impact of the disaster.
