SROHUME OUTDOORS NEW TRADITIONAL LEADERS IN GRAND CULTURAL CEREMONY.

The people of Srohume in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region have officially outdoored Torgbui Amegayie-Mortogbe II,  of Srohume, and Agbotadua Amegayie-Agbenyenu, at a colourful ceremony held on Saturday, August 8, 2026.


The grand outdooring ceremony, held at the Agbozume Srohume AME Zion School Park, brought together traditional rulers, queen mothers, opinion leaders, religious leaders, government representatives, youth groups, women and residents from Srohume and surrounding communities.



The programme was chaired by Torgbui Geli, who presided over proceedings as the community formally welcomed the newly installed traditional leaders.


The event was characterised by a spectacular display of Ewe culture and tradition, with traditional music, dancing and colourful cultural performances adding excitement to the historic occasion.


Chiefs and queens, opinion leaders and invited guests from various parts of the Volta Region graced the ceremony, demonstrating their support for the new traditional leadership and the people of Srohume.


The gathering also served as an important platform for the community to celebrate its heritage, strengthen bonds of unity and reaffirm its commitment to development.


In his address, Torgbui Amegayie-Mortogbe II expressed gratitude to Almighty God, the ancestors, traditional authorities and the people for their support and presence at his outdooring.

He said his acceptance of the traditional responsibility was not a privilege to be enjoyed, but a sacred duty to promote the welfare, progress and unity of Srohume.


 “Leadership is service, and I pledge to work tirelessly for the good of every member of our community,” he stated.


Torgbui Amegayie-Mortogbe II identified education as one of his major priorities, describing it as the foundation for the development of every community.


He appealed to parents to invest in the education of their children, particularly the girl child, while encouraging regular school attendance, discipline and academic excellence.


He also called for greater attention to vocational and technical skills training, noting that skills such as carpentry, tailoring, dressmaking, plumbing, electrical installation, welding, masonry, ICT, mechanics, agriculture and entrepreneurship could create opportunities for young people and help reduce unemployment.

The newly outdoor traditional leader further urged the people of Srohume to put aside division, jealousy and personal interests and unite behind the common goal of developing the community.


He stressed that peace was fundamental to development, calling on residents to resolve disagreements through dialogue, mutual respect and understanding.


He also appealed to the youth to stay away from drug abuse, crime and other social vices, urging them instead to embrace discipline, hard work, honesty and respect for authority.


“Our future depends on the character we build today. Development is everyone's responsibility,” he said


Women, chiefs and diaspora community acknowledged


Torgbui Amegayie-Mortogbe II acknowledged the significant contribution of women to the development of families and the community, promising his commitment to initiatives that would promote women's empowerment and economic independence.


He also called on chiefs and elders to continue providing wisdom and guidance as Srohume seeks to preserve its traditions while embracing positive development.


The new traditional leader appealed to natives, residents and friends of Srohume both home and abroad to contribute their knowledge, skills and resources towards improving roads, schools, health facilities, sanitation and other social amenities.


He urged the people to work collectively to build a stronger and more prosperous Srohume.



The colourful outdooring ceremony marked what many described as a significant new chapter in the traditional leadership and development aspirations of Srohume.


Torgbui Amegayie-Mortogbe II concluded his address by calling on the people to make education, vocational excellence, unity, peace, hard work and development their guiding principles.


He expressed appreciation to everyone who contributed to the success of the ceremony and prayed for God's continued guidance and blessings upon the chiefs, elders, youth, women, children and every household in Srohume.


The ceremony ended on a strong note of cultural pride and communal solidarity, with the gathering celebrating the new traditional leadership while reaffirming the enduring values and traditions of the Srohume community.

89-year-old Fetish Priest crowned the overall Best farmer for 2025 in Ketu South.

  Torgbui Nuwordu, a fetish priest from Klikor has been crowned the overall best farmer in the Ketu municipal at the  41st National Best Farmers day held on Thursday, November 27, 2025 at Agbozume Logove A M.E Zion School park.  He took home a tricycle, 10 cutlasses, 2 pairs of wellington boots, 4 bottles of herbicides, 4 bottles of insecticides, 1 spraying machine, 1 50kg bag of NPK, 1 50kg bag of Urea and a flat screen TV. Torgbui Nuwordu beat 8 other contestants. Government Provides Relief Support to Flood-Affected Irrigation Farmers in Ketu South.

The Government of Ghana has extended relief assistance to 15 irrigation farmers in the Ketu South Municipality whose farms were severely affected by recent devastating floods that impacted several parts of the country. The beneficiaries received assorted relief items, including fertilizers, mattresses, bags of rice, and cooking oil, to help mitigate the impact of the disaster.
