SSOSA SET FOR GRAND FUNDRAISING DINNER AHEAD OF SOMÉ SHS 60TH ANNIVERSARY.

The Somé Secondary Old Students’ Association (SSOSA) is set to host a grand Fundraising Dinner on Friday, August 7, 2026, as part of preparations towards the 60th Anniversary celebration of Somé Secondary School.


The dinner, scheduled for 5:00 p.m. prompt at the Police, Social and Fitness Centre, Accra, is expected to bring together old students, traditional leaders, government officials, friends of the school, corporate organisations and other stakeholders to mobilise resources for the successful celebration of the school’s six decades of service and impact.


The 60th anniversary celebration is scheduled for October 31, 2026, at the school’s premises, with the anniversary expected to provide an opportunity for past and present members of the school community to celebrate its history, achievements and contribution to education and society.


Among the distinguished personalities expected at the fundraising dinner are Prof. Noble Kumawu, President of SSOSA, and Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Member of Parliament for Ketu South and Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts.


Also expected are Torgbui Adamah III, Paramount Chief of the Somé Traditional Area, and Torgbui Addo IX, Paramount Chief of the Klikor Traditional Area.


Their presence is expected to add considerable significance to an evening dedicated to supporting the development and celebration of the historic institution.


60th anniversary cloth to be unveiled


A major highlight of the evening will be the official unveiling of the 60th Anniversary cloth, which is expected to serve as a lasting symbol of the school’s six-decade journey.


The occasion will also feature a special performance by the Ghana Police Brass Band, providing entertainment and a ceremonial touch to the fundraising event.


SSOSA is calling on old students, friends, corporate bodies, traditional authorities, institutions and well-wishers to attend the dinner and contribute generously towards the anniversary activities.


The association believes the fundraising dinner will not only mobilise financial support but also provide an important platform for old students to reconnect, renew their bonds and give back to the institution that shaped their lives.


As Somé Secondary School prepares to mark 60 years of academic excellence, discipline and service, SSOSA is urging all stakeholders to unite behind the anniversary project.

89-year-old Fetish Priest crowned the overall Best farmer for 2025 in Ketu South.

  Torgbui Nuwordu, a fetish priest from Klikor has been crowned the overall best farmer in the Ketu municipal at the  41st National Best Farmers day held on Thursday, November 27, 2025 at Agbozume Logove A M.E Zion School park.  He took home a tricycle, 10 cutlasses, 2 pairs of wellington boots, 4 bottles of herbicides, 4 bottles of insecticides, 1 spraying machine, 1 50kg bag of NPK, 1 50kg bag of Urea and a flat screen TV. Torgbui Nuwordu beat 8 other contestants. Government Provides Relief Support to Flood-Affected Irrigation Farmers in Ketu South.

The Government of Ghana has extended relief assistance to 15 irrigation farmers in the Ketu South Municipality whose farms were severely affected by recent devastating floods that impacted several parts of the country. The beneficiaries received assorted relief items, including fertilizers, mattresses, bags of rice, and cooking oil, to help mitigate the impact of the disaster.
