Dr Stanley Glate declares bid for NDC Volta Regional Secretary.

Dr Stanley Nelvis Glate, a Senior Lecturer at the Ho Technical University (HTU) and Chairman of the university’s chapter of the Technical University Teachers Association of Ghana (TUTAG), has officially declared his intention to contest the position of Volta Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).


Dr Glate made the declaration at the Volta Regional Press Centre in Ho under the theme “Rebuilding the Grassroots, Restoring Hope, Reclaiming Glory.” 


According to him, his decision to contest the position is driven by a desire to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures, restore confidence among members and make the Regional Secretariat more accessible, transparent and responsive to the needs of party members.


He cautioned that the NDC’s longstanding political dominance in the Volta Region could not, on its own, guarantee future electoral victories.


“The time has come to rejuvenate the base,” Dr Glate declared, stressing that the strength and electoral fortunes of the party depended largely on effective grassroots structures. 

Promises grassroots-focused Secretariat


Dr Glate pledged to establish a Regional Secretariat anchored on transparency, accountability, accessibility and responsiveness.


He said, if elected, he would regularly engage constituency and branch executives to listen to their concerns, provide timely feedback and ensure that decisions and resources from the Regional Secretariat were effectively communicated to the grassroots.


He also promised to strengthen communication between the regional and constituency structures, saying every constituency should feel valued and every branch should receive the necessary support to function effectively.


“No MP must feel disrespected. No MMDCE or appointee must feel left out. No constituency must feel abandoned. No branch must feel forgotten, and no committed activist must feel unappreciated,” he said. 


Calls for unity and renewal


The aspiring Regional Secretary maintained that the strength of the NDC in the Volta Region does not reside solely in the Regional Secretariat but in the collective commitment of members at the branch, electoral area, constituency and community levels.


He therefore described his candidature as an attempt to build a stronger bridge between the regional leadership and the grassroots.


Dr Glate called on party members to unite around a shared vision of service, accountability and organisational renewal, stressing that the task ahead required collective effort rather than individual ambition.


“The grassroots deserve a voice. The constituencies deserve support. The NDC Volta deserves a Secretariat that works.” 


He said his ultimate objective was to strengthen the party’s organisational structures and position the NDC in the Volta Region for future electoral victories.


Dr Glate concluded by urging delegates and party members to support his campaign to rebuild the grassroots, restore hope and reposition the NDC in the Volta Region. 


His declaration adds another name to the emerging contest for the NDC Volta Regional Secretary position, with reports indicating that Acting Regional Secretary Bright Kwashie Egeh and Director of Elections and Research Paschal Agbagba have also expressed interest in the race.

  Torgbui Nuwordu, a fetish priest from Klikor has been crowned the overall best farmer in the Ketu municipal at the  41st National Best Farmers day held on Thursday, November 27, 2025 at Agbozume Logove A M.E Zion School park.  He took home a tricycle, 10 cutlasses, 2 pairs of wellington boots, 4 bottles of herbicides, 4 bottles of insecticides, 1 spraying machine, 1 50kg bag of NPK, 1 50kg bag of Urea and a flat screen TV. Government Provides Relief Support to Flood-Affected Irrigation Farmers in Ketu South.

The Government of Ghana has extended relief assistance to 15 irrigation farmers in the Ketu South Municipality whose farms were severely affected by recent devastating floods that impacted several parts of the country. The beneficiaries received assorted relief items, including fertilizers, mattresses, bags of rice, and cooking oil, to help mitigate the impact of the disaster.
