Ferguson Ahorlu Files for Ketu South NDC Chairmanship, Unveils ‘Resetting Agenda’.

Aflao, Sept. 24, 2026.

Mr Ferguson Ahorlu has officially filed and submitted his nomination forms to contest the chairmanship position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ketu South Constituency, outlining a wide-ranging agenda focused on party unity, grassroots empowerment, accountability and improved infrastructure.

Mr Ahorlu submitted his forms at the NDC Constituency Office in Aflao at about 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23, accompanied by members of his campaign team and supporters. The filing falls within the NDC's official September 23–24 nomination-filing period for its 2026 constituency executive elections.

Ahead of the filing, Mr Ahorlu and his supporters embarked on a tour of some communities in the Ketu South Municipality to formally announce his candidature and engage party members.

The team began the tour from Kpoglu Junction and proceeded through Tokor, Denu, Adafienu and the Aflao Border area before returning to the party's constituency office in Aflao for the filing.

Speaking to the media after submitting his forms, Mr Ahorlu said one of his priorities, if elected, would be to facilitate the construction of a modern and befitting constituency office for the party.

He argued that Ketu South, which party supporters commonly describe as the NDC's "World Bank" because of its strong electoral support for the party, deserved improved office infrastructure.

“I have lobbied for this already, and after the elections, when I am declared the chairman, works will commence for us to have a befitting party office,” he said.

Mr Ahorlu expressed confidence in his campaign, citing what he described as his years of hard work, commitment, dedication and sacrifices for the NDC. He currently serves as the Ketu South Constituency Organiser, having been elected to that position in the party's 2022 constituency elections.

Turning his attention to the 2028 general election, Mr Ahorlu said the party could not afford to take its electoral strength in Ketu South or its national prospects for granted.

He presented himself as the candidate capable of strengthening the constituency's structures and mobilising the grassroots ahead of 2028.

His campaign platform, dubbed the “Resetting Agenda,” includes proposals for stronger collaboration among the communications team, youth and women's wings, organisation department, Zongo caucus and election directorate. It also proposes greater involvement of ward and branch executives, decentralised party welfare, clearer responsibilities for executive members, stronger committees and grassroots empowerment.

The NDC's national timetable schedules constituency executive elections for October 24 and 25, 2026, following vetting from September 25–27 and an appeals period from September 29 to October 1.

Mr Ahorlu also appealed to delegates, supporters and competing camps to conduct their campaigns peacefully and avoid insults and personal attacks.

He stressed that the contest was an internal party election and should not be allowed to create divisions among members who would have to work together after the polls.

He urged delegates to assess the aspirants and entrust the constituency leadership to the candidate they believe can effectively organise and unite the party, while reiterating his own case for the chairmanship.

The NDC has similarly called on members and aspirants participating in the internal elections to follow its electoral timetable and procedures to ensure an orderly process.
