OSP Begins Preliminary Probe into Alleged GH¢70,000 Payment Linked to Parliamentary Vetting.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has commenced preliminary investigations into a purported memorandum alleging that a Member of Parliament returned GH¢70,000 allegedly allocated to her in connection with the vetting of nominees by Parliament’s Appointments Committee.


The OSP, in a public notice dated September 4, 2026, said it had taken note of a document circulating in the media which is purportedly attributed to Hon. Patricia Appiagyei, Member of Parliament for Asokwa and Deputy Minority Leader.


According to the OSP, the purported memorandum was addressed to Hon. Frank Annoh-Dompreh, MP for Nsawam/Adoagyiri and Minority Chief Whip.


The document allegedly claims that Hon. Appiagyei returned an amount of GH¢70,000 said to have been allocated to her as an advance from the Majority Chief Whip in connection with the vetting by Parliament’s Appointments Committee of two ministerial nominees and three nominees to the Supreme Court.


The OSP said the constitutional importance of Parliament’s Appointments Committee, coupled with the need to safeguard the integrity of the vetting process, had prompted it to commence preliminary investigations.


The OSP is intended to establish the veracity of the purported memorandum, the source of the alleged funds and the purpose for which the funds were allegedly provided.


The anti-corruption body further said the contents of the document purportedly cast doubt on the source of the alleged funds and suggested that the funds had the hallmarks of extortion involving nominees.


As part of the investigation, the OSP has dispatched a communication inviting Hon. Patricia Appiagyei to appear before the Office and assist with the preliminary inquiry.

The OSP stressed that its actively investigating allegations of extortion involving Members of Parliament.


The investigation is expected to determine the authenticity of the circulating document and establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged GH¢70,000 payment.

  Torgbui Nuwordu, a fetish priest from Klikor has been crowned the overall best farmer in the Ketu municipal at the  41st National Best Farmers day held on Thursday, November 27, 2025 at Agbozume Logove A M.E Zion School park.  He took home a tricycle, 10 cutlasses, 2 pairs of wellington boots, 4 bottles of herbicides, 4 bottles of insecticides, 1 spraying machine, 1 50kg bag of NPK, 1 50kg bag of Urea and a flat screen TV. Government Provides Relief Support to Flood-Affected Irrigation Farmers in Ketu South.

The Government of Ghana has extended relief assistance to 15 irrigation farmers in the Ketu South Municipality whose farms were severely affected by recent devastating floods that impacted several parts of the country. The beneficiaries received assorted relief items, including fertilizers, mattresses, bags of rice, and cooking oil, to help mitigate the impact of the disaster.
