Somètutuza 2026 Set to Celebrate Somè Heritage with Grand Durbar and Youth-Centred Activities.

The Somè Traditional Council has announced the programme of activities for Somètutuza 2026, a major annual cultural celebration aimed at promoting the rich heritage, unity and development of the Somè traditional area.


The grand celebration is scheduled for Saturday, September 26, 2026, at the Somè National Park, Agbozume, beginning at 10:00 a.m.


This year’s celebration is being held under the theme: “Harnessing the Potential of Youth for Socio-Cultural Preservation, Economic Prosperity, and Tourism Development to Foster Peace and Unity.”


The theme places particular emphasis on the role of young people in preserving the cultural identity of Somè while contributing to economic growth, tourism promotion and peaceful coexistence.


The event is expected to bring together traditional rulers, government officials, political leaders, religious bodies, youth groups, residents and other stakeholders.


Among the dignitaries featured on the official programme are Torgbigah Adamah III, President and Paramount Chief of the Somè Traditional Council; H.E. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Vice President of Ghana and Special Guest of Honour; and other distinguished traditional and political leaders.


The Somètutuza 2026 programme features a wide range of activities beginning from September 13 through September 27, 2026.


The celebrations will commence with a traditional prayer and libation on September 13 at the Forecourt of the Makosor Palace.


On September 14, a reconciliation programme will be held across Somè communities, while September 15 will feature visits to tourist sites and activities involving students, including the Somè Fugo Students Quiz Competition and a Somè Fugo Youth Summit.


A Somè Fugo Students' Durbar is scheduled for September 17 at the Denu Chicago School Park.


The programme will also include a communal labour exercise, another round of the Somè Wego Students Quiz Competition and a musicians' parade on September 18.


One of the major highlights will be the Mega Health Walk on September 19, alongside a fireworks night/music jam and a Food and Drinks Buzza Night.


The celebration will continue with Christian prayers on September 20, followed by the final of the Somè Fugo and Wego Students Quiz Competition on September 22.


Other activities include communal labour, a mega float, food and drinks events, a students' durbar, a grand durbar, kite and craft exhibition, as well as a thanksgiving ceremony on September 27.


The Traditional Council has also designated September 14–27 as a period of no drumming and noise-making and no funeral rites across the Somè traditional area, as part of measures to preserve the solemnity and cultural significance of the festivities.


The grand durbar on September 26 is expected to serve as the climax of the celebrations, providing a platform to showcase Somè's cultural heritage while encouraging greater participation of the youth in cultural preservation, tourism and community development.


Organisers are calling on residents, indigenes, visitors and stakeholders to participate fully in the various activities and help make Somètutuza 2026 a memorable celebration of Somè culture, unity, peace and development.

89-year-old Fetish Priest crowned the overall Best farmer for 2025 in Ketu South.

  Torgbui Nuwordu, a fetish priest from Klikor has been crowned the overall best farmer in the Ketu municipal at the  41st National Best Farmers day held on Thursday, November 27, 2025 at Agbozume Logove A M.E Zion School park.  He took home a tricycle, 10 cutlasses, 2 pairs of wellington boots, 4 bottles of herbicides, 4 bottles of insecticides, 1 spraying machine, 1 50kg bag of NPK, 1 50kg bag of Urea and a flat screen TV. Torgbui Nuwordu beat 8 other contestants. Government Provides Relief Support to Flood-Affected Irrigation Farmers in Ketu South.

The Government of Ghana has extended relief assistance to 15 irrigation farmers in the Ketu South Municipality whose farms were severely affected by recent devastating floods that impacted several parts of the country. The beneficiaries received assorted relief items, including fertilizers, mattresses, bags of rice, and cooking oil, to help mitigate the impact of the disaster.
