Somètutuza 2026: Somè Traditional Council Announces Mega Health Walk for September 19.
By Courage Edwin Amenuda
The Somè Traditional Council has announced a Mega Health Walk as part of activities lined up for this year’s Somètutuza celebration, with residents and the general public expected to participate in the community-wide exercise.
The health walk is scheduled for Saturday, September 19, 2026, beginning at 5:30 a.m. at the Agbozume Lorry Park.
According to the organisers, participants will walk from the Agbozume Lorry Park through Agbozume and Klikor towns to Nogokpo, before proceeding to the Somè National School Park, where the walk will end.
The initiative forms part of efforts by the Somè Traditional Council to promote healthy living, community participation and togetherness while celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the Somè people through Somètutuza.
In addition to the physical exercise, participants will have access to water, drinks and health screening during the event.
The organisers have therefore encouraged residents, traditional authorities, youth groups, community organisations, families and well-wishers to come out in their numbers and participate in the health walk.
The event is being organised under the theme
"HARNESSING THE POTENTIAL OF YOUTH FOR SOCIO-CULTURAL PRESERVATION, ECONOMIC PROSPERITY, AND TOURISM DEVELOPMENT TO FOSTER PEACE AND UNITY"
The walk is part of promoting a healthier and more united community, reflecting the broader objectives of Somètutuza 2026.
The Somè Traditional Council has extended a cordial invitation to all to join the walk and celebrate Somètutuza through fitness, culture and community spirit.
