SOSEC @60: OLD STUDENTS INVITED TO SERVE AS RESOURCE PERSONS FOR CAREER GUIDANCE & MENTORSHIP SEMINAR.

As part of activities marking the 60th Anniversary Celebration of Somé Senior High School (SOSEC), the Somé Senior Secondary School Old Students Association (SSOSA) has extended a call to old students to volunteer as resource persons and speakers for a Career Guidance and Mentorship Seminar scheduled for Friday, October 23, 2026.


The seminar, which forms part of the anniversary activities, is aimed at inspiring, guiding and preparing current students for their future careers, higher education and the world of work.


According to the General Secretary of SSOSA, Mr. Godson Sena Adjavor, the programme will be organized into interactive breakout sessions based on the various courses offered by the school.


The sessions will cover:


1. Business

2. Visual Arts

3. Agricultural Science

4. General Science

5. General Arts – Literature Option

6. General Arts – Government Option


Mr. Adjavor explained that each session will provide students with the opportunity to interact directly with professionals and experts in their respective fields, ask questions, learn from their experiences and gain practical insights into possible career paths.


SSOSA is therefore inviting old students who are professionals, entrepreneurs, experts and accomplished practitioners in relevant fields to volunteer as Resource Persons/Speakers for the seminar.


The association is particularly seeking old students who have a passion for youth mentorship, possess strong communication skills, have distinguished career paths and valuable experiences to share, and are willing to give back to their alma mater.


The organizers believe that the participation of experienced old students will help broaden students' understanding of career opportunities and inspire them to make informed decisions about their academic and professional futures.


“This is your opportunity to light the path for a young student,” the association said in its appeal to old students.



Interested old students are encouraged to contact the General Secretary of SSOSA to register their name, year group, profession and preferred session.


Applicants will subsequently be shortlisted for participation in the exercise.


The association is calling on old students to take advantage of the opportunity to contribute to the development of the next generation and help make the SOSEC 60th Anniversary Celebration a memorable one.

89-year-old Fetish Priest crowned the overall Best farmer for 2025 in Ketu South.

  Torgbui Nuwordu, a fetish priest from Klikor has been crowned the overall best farmer in the Ketu municipal at the  41st National Best Farmers day held on Thursday, November 27, 2025 at Agbozume Logove A M.E Zion School park.  He took home a tricycle, 10 cutlasses, 2 pairs of wellington boots, 4 bottles of herbicides, 4 bottles of insecticides, 1 spraying machine, 1 50kg bag of NPK, 1 50kg bag of Urea and a flat screen TV. Torgbui Nuwordu beat 8 other contestants. Government Provides Relief Support to Flood-Affected Irrigation Farmers in Ketu South.

The Government of Ghana has extended relief assistance to 15 irrigation farmers in the Ketu South Municipality whose farms were severely affected by recent devastating floods that impacted several parts of the country. The beneficiaries received assorted relief items, including fertilizers, mattresses, bags of rice, and cooking oil, to help mitigate the impact of the disaster. Presenting the items on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Nicholas Kwabla Worklatsi, at the premises of the Ketu South Municipal Assembly on Thursday, July 30, 2026, the Municipal Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Mr. Ferguson Ahorlu, noted that the value of the destroyed farms far exceeded the relief package provided.
