The celebration will conclude with a thanksgiving service on Sunday, January 10, at 9:00 a.m. at the Church of Pentecost, Agbevekope.
The activities are designed to combine cultural expression, sports, community participation, and religious thanksgiving.
The theme, “Our Home, Our Future - Agbevekope Youths United for Development,” underscores the organisers' focus on bringing young people together to contribute to the future of their community.
Through activities such as the general cleaning exercise, football competition, history-telling, and cultural performances, the festival is expected to create opportunities for residents to strengthen their bonds and appreciate the traditions and history of Agbevekope.
The history-telling session, in particular, is expected to provide an opportunity for younger generations to learn about the community's past and the traditions that have shaped its identity.
The grand durbar will also offer a platform for traditional authorities, youth representatives, and other stakeholders to gather in celebration of the community.
The Chairman of the Association Rev. Oswin Amesiku noted that as the first-ever homecoming and youth celebration in Agbevekope, the festival represents a new initiative to bring together people from different backgrounds who share a connection to the community.
"Beyond the festivities, the event presents an opportunity to encourage young people to take an active interest in community affairs, strengthen relationships between residents and traditional authorities, and promote a shared vision for development" he stated
"With traditional leaders, invited public representatives, youth groups, and other stakeholders expected to participate, the Agbevekope Homecoming Festival and Youth Celebration 2026 is poised to provide a platform for cultural celebration and community engagement as the people look towards a common future", the chairman concluded
