Pregnant Woman and Husband Found Dead in Anloga-Kportorgboe.

By Courage Edwin Amenuda.

A 35-year-old mason and his pregnant wife have been found dead in their room at Kportorgboe, a suburb of Anloga in the Volta Region.

The deceased have been identified as Daniel Agbenyegah, a mason, and his wife, Patience Awumee, believed to be between 29 and 30 years old and about seven months pregnant.

According to Edwin Kwasi Vedzi, Assembly Member for the Anloga Kportorgbe Electoral Area, preliminary information suggests that Daniel may have killed his wife with a knife before taking his own life. However, he stressed that the account has not been confirmed by the police, and investigations are ongoing.

The Assembly Member said the throats of both deceased were found slashed.

The couple had reportedly travelled on Sunday to visit the woman's parents and returned home on Monday at about 11:00 a.m. The incident is believed to have occurred approximately 30 minutes after their return.

They were living in the house of the husband's grandfather together with other relatives. Neighbours reportedly said they had not heard any quarrel or altercation involving the couple, while there was no known dispute between them that residents were aware of.

The police subsequently removed the bodies and deposited them at the Keta Municipal Hospital Morgue for further examination and autopsy.

Mr Vedzi has appealed to residents to remain calm and cooperate with the police as investigations continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

The tragic incident has left the Kportorgboe community in shock, with residents and relatives awaiting the outcome of the police investigation and autopsy.
