The newly elected executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ketu South Constituency have appointed five individuals as co-opted members of the constituency executive committee in accordance with the party's constitution.
The appointments were announced by the Constituency Chairman, Hon. Ferguson Ahorlu, during a media briefing held on Sunday, November 1, at the residence of the Ketu South Municipal Chief Executive in Tokor, where he formally introduced the newly appointed members to the media.
According to Hon. Ahorlu, the appointments were carefully considered to ensure that all zones within the constituency are adequately represented and to strengthen the capacity of the executives to effectively manage the affairs of the party.
The five newly appointed co-opted members are Mr. Atsu Klugah, representing Somè Wego Zone; Mr. Felix Akonta Akakpo, popularly known as Torgbui Tenuvi II, representing Aflao Wego Zone; Alhaji Mukaila, representing Aflao Urban Zone; Mr. Julius Setsoafia, representing Klikor Zone; and Mr. Francis Atitsogbui, representing Somè Fugo Zone.
Speaking about the individual contributions expected from the appointees, Hon. Ferguson Ahorlu described Mr. Atsu Klugah as a national figure whose presence on the constituency executive would help establish a stronger link between the Ketu South Constituency and the national leadership of the NDC.
He expressed confidence that Mr. Klugah would facilitate connections and help the constituency access the necessary assistance and support from the national executives whenever the need arises.
The chairman also identified Mr. Felix Akonta Akakpo, known as Torgbui Tenuvi II, as an important addition to the party's leadership, particularly in terms of financial support and resource mobilisation.
He said Torgbui Tenuvi II would serve as one of the financiers of the party, providing financial assistance to support its activities and programmes.
Similarly, Alhaji Mukaila, a businessman representing Aflao Urban Zone, is expected to contribute financially towards the effective administration and running of the party.
In addition to his role as a co-opted member, Alhaji Mukaila will serve as a deputy to the Zongo Caucus Coordinator, Hon. Ibrahim Ayuba.
Hon. Ahorlu expressed optimism that the collaboration between Alhaji Mukaila and Hon. Ayuba would bring renewed energy, development and stronger political engagement within the Zongo communities across the constituency.
Meanwhile, Mr. Julius Setsoafia and Mr. Francis Atitsogbui are expected to contribute significantly to the organisational and administrative activities of the party, particularly in matters relating to elections, grassroots mobilisation and the smooth running of the constituency's political structures.
Hon. Ferguson Ahorlu assured party members that both the elected and co-opted executives would work closely with the Member of Parliament for Ketu South, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, and the Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Nicholas Kwabla Worklachie to effectively manage the affairs of the constituency and advance the development agenda of the party.
He further disclosed that the new leadership would actively involve former constituency executives and party elders in the administration of the party, stressing that their experience, wisdom and contributions remained invaluable to the growth of the NDC.
The chairman emphasised that the ultimate objective of the new leadership was to bring all stakeholders together, irrespective of their political differences during the constituency elections, to promote unity, togetherness and collective responsibility.
He reiterated that the leadership was committed to building a stronger and more inclusive NDC in Ketu South, where elected executives, co-opted members, former leaders, elders and grassroots supporters would work together towards the continued growth and electoral success of the party.
