The newly elected executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ketu South Constituency have engaged members of the media in a meeting aimed at strengthening unity, promoting reconciliation and outlining a common vision for the party's future following the just-ended constituency elections.

The engagement, held on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at the residence of the Ketu South Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), brought together the newly elected constituency executives and media practitioners under the theme, "Beyond the Ballot: Building a United and Cooperative Ketu South."

Addressing the gathering, the Constituency Chairman, Hon. Ferguson Ahorlu, expressed appreciation to journalists, bloggers, content creators and other media practitioners for their contributions towards covering the constituency elections.

He acknowledged the media's important role in informing the public, reporting electoral developments and bringing the electoral process closer to the people. He further expressed his administration's commitment to maintaining a cordial and constructive relationship with the media beyond the election period.

In what he described as an important step towards reconciliation and a fresh beginning, Hon. Ahorlu rendered an unqualified apology to anyone who might have been offended by words, actions or approaches adopted during the campaign period.

Speaking on behalf of himself and his executives, he extended the apology to fellow contestants, their supporters, party members, executives and all individuals who might have felt hurt, whether knowingly or unknowingly, by developments during the campaign.

He stressed that leadership requires humility, the willingness to acknowledge mistakes, listen to others and create opportunities for reconciliation.

According to him, the election period should now be considered over, making it necessary for all members to put aside their differences and embrace a new chapter of cooperation.

The Ketu South NDC Chairman emphasised that the constituency election should not create permanent divisions among party members, insisting that although individuals supported different candidates during the contest, they remain members of one political family.

He assured the newly elected executives that his administration would create an inclusive environment that provides opportunities for cooperation, participation and mutual respect.

"I am not here to lead one camp against another. I am here to work with all of us," he declared.

He further urged all elected officers to recognise that the responsibilities entrusted to them are greater than their individual interests, adding that the success of his administration would depend largely on their collective commitment and ability to work together.

Hon. Ahorlu called on the newly elected executives to shift their attention from electoral competition to the responsibilities of building a stronger constituency.

He advocated an administration where every executive would have the freedom to express opinions, participate in decision-making and discharge their duties without fear or intimidation.

He acknowledged that disagreements were inevitable in leadership but maintained that differences in opinion should never become obstacles to achieving common objectives.

He therefore encouraged the executives to embrace dialogue, respect diverse perspectives and resolve disagreements through mutual understanding.

Touching on the relationship between the party and the media, the Chairman reiterated his administration's commitment to transparency, accountability and open communication.

He described the media as important partners in promoting democratic governance and keeping the public informed.

He assured journalists and other media practitioners that his administration would welcome constructive criticism and meaningful engagement, recognising that responsible media scrutiny contributes to accountable leadership.

On the way forward, Hon. Ahorlu disclosed that further engagements and discussions would be organised with party members and other stakeholders to strengthen relationships, rebuild trust and promote mutual understanding.

He acknowledged that reconciliation and rebuilding confidence among members require patience, sincerity and consistent action.

He urged all stakeholders to approach the new political chapter with open minds and a genuine willingness to work together for the progress of the NDC in Ketu South.

"Our Political Differences Should Never Be Greater Than Our Shared Responsibility"

Concluding his address, Hon. Ahorlu emphasised that the success of his leadership would not be determined by the number of people who supported his candidature during the elections but by the collective achievements of the entire constituency executive team.

He called on party members to move beyond electoral divisions, restore trust and build a constituency leadership that everyone would be proud of.

"We contested differently, but we must now work together. We may have had different choices, but we share one responsibility and one common future," he stated.

He reaffirmed his commitment to building a united, cooperative and inclusive NDC in Ketu South, stressing that the party's collective interests must always take precedence over individual ambitions.

The engagement signals an important post-election effort by the newly elected leadership to consolidate internal unity, strengthen stakeholder relationships and position the NDC in Ketu South for its future political responsibilities.
